Find a Niche
The first thing you should do is find a beat. It can be anything from lifestyle, sports, politics, entertainment, and so on. A specific beat is usually what separates radio shows from podcasts as the former usually tackles many (if not all) issues at once while the latter focuses on one particular topic. Choosing a specific beat can also guarantee you a potential audience that can turn into your faithful listeners. If your podcast will be about politics, those interested in such will be your main audience. The same goes for talking about sports, lifestyle, and others. Every time you release a new podcast, they’ll be the first ones to tune in.
Get the Right Equipment
You might think your smartphone is enough to record your podcasts, but this is a terrible idea. Doing so won’t produce a high quality-sounding podcast and your audience might feel as if they’re listening in on a private phone conversation. You’ll need a visual aid to become instantly recognizable online and on social media, and a logo is a start. When your logo is eye-catching enough against a sea of other podcasts, you will lure in a lot of listeners. Second, try to go viral. Be strong with your opinions and people who agree with you will share your work on their social media platforms. And don’t worry about stirring up a controversy, it’s all part of the job As they say “all publicity is good publicity!”
Finally, to set up a real podcast, be consistent. Podcast daily or weekly to keep your listeners interested and engaged with what you have to say.
