Digital storyteller Jesse Gift recommends cameras, lighting and techniques for producing videos that look great using a minimalist production approach.
“Minimalist approach? With video? What is he talking about?”
Yes, you read that right. A minimalist approach with video that gets great results.
When I met first Jesse when we were both at NBC’s Burbank news bureau. I was a producer. He was an editor. Now we are much harder to describe in one word. The digital world has transformed us both into camera operators, sound techs, lighting experts, writers, directors, and above all, digital storytellers. The tools of our trade have also changed. At one time, the cameras all cost five figures or more, we needed a truck just to carry our lighting gear, and the whole affair was highly technical.
It’s still pretty technical, but Jesse, in this podcast interview, is great at breaking it down, making it accessible, and suggesting ways you can use video in your iPad app, on your site, and for your business. He has a Twitter account that is often funny and at times, useful.
