For as long as I can remember, anxiety was a part of my life. I was certainly an anxious child and young adult, but for the most part it wasn’t a serious problem. Then, about 20 years ago, that changed.
I was living in Seattle at the time but dating a guy who lived in New York, and I was about to fly out to visit him. I was even considering moving there, if the trip went well. But shortly before boarding, I had a panic attack, and I couldn’t convince myself to get on the plane. I never did make it to New York.
